Gounod

This former grandfather clock came to me without a face or workings. Removing the door allowed it to be converted into a bookcase, which you could also use to display your objets d’art.

At over two metres this is the tallest piece I have built.

The deer’s head has been embellished with a deer’s jawbone (from a different deer), and an eyebrow decoration. The unicorn horn is a broken decanter stopper.

The head is that of the French composer Charles Gounod. His body on a shelf is awaiting a suitable animal skull.

The hand grasps its pole much in the manner of a court halberdier. You may have to look that up.

This medieval-looking relief has been lifted from a cupboard door, rescued from a French flea market.
